YOUR RESOURCE to OHIO'S AMISH COUNTRY

The Amish Country Travel Philosophy

Life is more than being first.

It's not about being the fastest, having the most, going the farthest. Life that has peace, meaning and celebrates each new day is modeled by a culture that prizes not what the world pursues, but what can found in the soul of every human being--homespun gifts, errands run on a bicycle, meeting with neighbors, gathering of friends and family to worship God, a hard days work to help a neighbor put the hay away, therapy sessions around the quilt frame, chatting around the supper table, and hearing the evening slip away to the euphony of crickets.

Holmes County Ohio is in the top 2 places to visit in Ohio.

People come from all walks of life to experience the Amish lifestyle. While it's fun to visit the craft shops, farm markets and museums, people often are seen driving slower than they ever did to take in the view of the rolling hills, patchwork fields, nurtured vegetable, radiant flower gardens, and a bare-footed child skipping down the lane with a leashed miniature pony in tow.

A Passport to Amish Country can show you this undying courage, personal empowerment, and soulful rejuvenation.

Interesting facts about the Amish (Next Fact)

Receiving an education means learning basic needs for life as a farmer, mother, housewife and business owner. A single lady with an eighth-grade education will teach twenty to thirty pupils in grades one thru eight. In 1972, the Supreme Court ruled that the Amish did not have to go to school after eighth grade. After this point, many boys and girls become full time helpers on the farm, in the family business, and in keeping the home. Many school years end with a picnic day on a neighboring farm. Parents, children and the teacher join in a festive day of good food and games for all.
